About The Position

The Project Manager is a key leadership role responsible for the overall success, quality, execution, and profitability of commercial flooring projects from preconstruction through closeout. This position requires strong initiative, sound decision-making, and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects while building lasting relationships with clients, general contractors, vendors, and installation teams. At Milburn, our Project Managers oversee all aspects of commercial flooring installations—including resilient flooring, carpet, ceramic tile, sports flooring, and specialty flooring systems—across a diverse portfolio of projects in healthcare, education, corporate interiors, retail, and public sector markets. Project sizes typically range from $250,000 to over $5 million, offering the opportunity to lead complex, high-profile installations that make a lasting impact.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of project management experience in commercial construction; commercial flooring experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage projects from award through closeout while maintaining schedules, budgets, quality standards, and client satisfaction.
  • Proficient in reviewing, interpreting, and applying construction drawings, blueprints, and project specifications.
  • Experience coordinating with general contractors, architects, subcontractors, vendors, and installation teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to effectively manage project documentation and communicate professionally via email.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and results-driven with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a professional, polished demeanor.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, project teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Commercial flooring experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, RFMS, or similar platforms is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, relevant experience, and demonstrated success in commercial construction project management will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Support sales staff and administrators to function as the main ‘driver’ of moving jobs through the pipeline from initial purchase order through job completion.
  • Actively monitor new job pipeline and review/approve Materials Specifications within 72-hour timelines post PO submission.
  • Review plans, layouts, and job site conditions to ensure all quantities of material required are accurate and provide the best opportunity to satisfy the customers’ needs and maximize cost savings and company profitability.
  • Create, maintain, and distribute project schedules and progress updates as required to keep customers and office staff updated on job progress.
  • Attend project meetings as requested and required – this is mandatory on GC projects.
  • Review pick tickets and materials in the warehouse to ensure the material pulled is complete with no issues or deficiencies.
  • Schedule dumpster deliveries/pick-ups as required.
  • Prior to approving Material Specifications Project Managers must be actively engaged in walking jobs with a focus on ways to promote cost savings and increasing gross profit.
  • Pre-Job site inspections must occur as frequently as possible. Conditions must be reviewed and documented with a close eye for detail – get ahead of potential issues as early as possible and document conditions with pictures and emails.
  • Inspect materials upon delivery to jobsite, ensure quantities and colors are correct and match the pick ticket.
  • Supervision of in-house field staff is critical and must be closely managed across Commercial and Sports Flooring Divisions with a focus on increasing productivity and keeping Labor under budget.
  • Manage and work closely with sub-contractors throughout the installation process. You are their first point of contact for any questions or issues that may arise.
  • Frequently visit job sites to maintain job-site conditions, manage material, and inspect the quality and accuracy of work being performed. React to potential issues in real time to minimize large punch list items at job completion.
  • Ensure flooring installation is performed to a high level of quality and in a timely manner. Document installation with pictures and save into job folder for future reference.
