About The Position

Centura College is seeking experienced Electricians, Construction Electricians, and Electrical Trades Professionals to join their team as instructors. This role involves providing classroom and hands-on lab instruction in core electrical concepts and construction trade practices. The instructor will teach students topics including basic electricity, electrical wiring methods, electric services, conduit installation methods, motor principles, electrical controls, life safety systems, and construction safety practices. This position combines technical expertise, mentorship, and hands-on instruction to prepare students for successful careers in the electrical and construction trades industry. No prior teaching experience is required, as a 5-day paid instructor training program is provided.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in the electrical or construction trades field
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring methods, and construction safety
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, performance-driven educational environment
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint
  • Ability to support occasional evening, weekend, or travel requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational, technical, or construction-related training preferred
  • Experience as a Construction Electrician, Commercial Electrician, Industrial Electrician, or Electrical Technician preferred
  • Previous vocational training or teaching experience is a plus
  • CampusNexus experience is a plus
  • OSHA 10-Hour Safety Certification within 6 months of hire
  • CPR Certification current or obtained within 3 months of hire
  • NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) Certification within 6 months of hire

Responsibilities

  • Teach electrical trades classes on a regularly scheduled basis
  • Create a welcoming and engaging learning environment for students
  • Deliver hands-on instruction in classroom and lab settings
  • Assist with curriculum development and course material preparation
  • Maintain classroom tools, lab equipment, and instructional materials
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress
  • Submit evaluations, reports, and required documentation on time
  • Support student retention and academic success initiatives
  • Participate in instructor training, faculty meetings, and professional development
  • Assist with equipment and supply inventory management
  • Communicate student attendance concerns and performance issues to leadership
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized training environment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership
