About The Position

Lighthouse Electrical is seeking a Commercial Electrical Estimator responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and profitable cost estimates for commercial electrical construction projects. This role involves analyzing plans, specifications, and bid documents, evaluating project risks and opportunities, and collaborating with operations, project management, vendors, and customers to secure profitable work. The ideal candidate will have strong technical electrical knowledge, commercial construction experience, and the ability to build relationships with general contractors, owners, engineers, and suppliers throughout the Central Texas market.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of commercial electrical estimating experience
  • Strong understanding of commercial electrical construction methods and systems
  • Experience estimating projects ranging from $100,000 to $8 million+
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency with estimating software such as Accubid, ConEst, or Electronic Bid Monitor (EBM)
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of electrical industry experience
  • Field experience as an electrician, foreman, or superintendent
  • Experience in healthcare, higher education, mission-critical, industrial, or large commercial projects
  • Texas electrical industry experience and contractor relationships

Responsibilities

  • Review plans, specifications, addenda, and bid documents to determine project requirements
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for power distribution systems, lighting systems, low-voltage systems, site electrical work, emergency power systems, and specialty electrical systems
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations
  • Prepare complete project estimates, proposals, and bid packages
  • Identify scope gaps, exclusions, clarifications, and value-engineering opportunities
  • Maintain accurate estimate documentation and bid records
  • Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, owners, developers, engineers, and architects
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and project walkthroughs
  • Assist in developing strategies to win targeted projects
  • Represent the company professionally throughout the bidding process
  • Identify labor, material, scheduling, and execution challenges
  • Evaluate project profitability before bid submission
  • Conduct detailed handoff meetings with project management and field leadership
  • Provide estimate assumptions, labor projections, procurement strategies, and risk considerations
  • Support project teams during startup and execution as needed
