About The Position

The Commercial Door Hardware Carpenter exists to install, repair, and maintain various types of commercial door hardware systems. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to ensure the smooth operation of doors within commercial buildings.

Requirements

  • 7+ years’ experience installing, repairing, and maintaining commercial door hardware
  • 7+ years’ experience field carpentry experience
  • Knowledge and experience working with commercial carpentry tools and building materials
  • Knowledge and understanding of construction safety devices and PPE
  • Full dexterity of hands and arms.
  • Ability to see objects close and far away.
  • Ability to focus on specific sounds associated with tasks.
  • Must be fit for duty and not report to work under the influence of a mind altering or performance altering substance.
  • Must not be found to be possessing or using a mind or performance altering substance while performing any Company task.
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Fingerprint Criminal Background Check (or proof of application).

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Participation in a secondary or post-secondary trade curriculum

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain commercial door hardware systems including locks, hinges, handles, and closers.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications to determine installation procedures.
  • Measure and cut materials to fit specific door dimensions and hardware requirements.
  • Ensure proper alignment, operation, and functionality of doors and hardware.
  • Test hardware and doors for proper functioning and security.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to door hardware and mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with other tradespeople and contractors on larger construction projects.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and standards while working on-site.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain professional relationships with clients.
  • Accurately measure height, width, length, and other proportions.
  • Basic material take-off to ensure proper material selection and quantity needed.
  • Perform proper layout for work to be put in place.
  • Move building materials to proper workspace.
  • Work with materials such as wood, metal, plastic, fiberglass, and/or drywall.
  • Utilize appropriate tools and materials to build or repair structural components.
  • Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.
  • Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and lasers to ensure everything is level and secure.
  • Check work along the way to ensure it meets specification and quality standards.
  • Work with light-gauge and load-bearing steel framing for building interior partitions, soffits, exterior framing, and curtain wall construction.
  • Build and/or install windows, roof systems, stairs, blocking.
  • Cut, hang, and install drywall with minimum waste.
  • Install all types of ceiling grid systems (standard, slotted, and specialty products).
  • Install millwork and casework.
  • Install doors, frames, and hardware.
  • Install bath accessories and in-wall blocking.
  • Install exterior sheathing.
  • Install insulation.
  • Always exercise the proper use of PPE.
  • Set up and safely use company equipment.
