About The Position

The Commercial Credit Assistant Manager will review non-committee underwriting requests to ensure consistency with the Bank's credit philosophy, underwriting standards, risk appetite, and applicable policies. This role involves evaluating financial statements, cash flow performance, repayment capacity, collateral support, guarantor strength, borrowing purpose, and material credit risks for assigned credit requests. The Assistant Manager will provide timely feedback, identify and escalate significant credit concerns, underwriting deficiencies, policy exceptions, and regulatory issues. Responsibilities also include reviewing and approving specific forms, Annual Credit Exposure Reviews, and supporting the preparation of credit packages. A key aspect of this role is directly supervising Credit Analysts, managing their performance, workflow, development, and accountability, while providing ongoing training, coaching, mentorship, and technical guidance. The Assistant Manager will coordinate workload needs, support consistent application of credit policy, and ensure adherence to underwriting expectations and financial analysis standards. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are expected, along with other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or related field required
  • Minimum five (5) years of commercial lending, credit analysis, underwriting, portfolio management, or related banking experience.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing commercial credit requests, analyzing financial statements, evaluating repayment capacity, and identifying material credit risks.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of commercial credit analysis, underwriting practices, lending procedures, and credit administration standards.
  • Ability to train, coach, supervise, and develop junior credit employees
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide clear feedback on credit requests and underwriting quality
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage workflow, prioritize competing deadlines, and maintain service level expectations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and applicable banking software systems
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, identify risk-based concerns, and escalate matters appropriately
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail, accountability, and follow-through
  • Ability to work collaboratively with lending teams, underwriters, analysts, senior management, and other Bank departments
  • Must successfully pass background investigation according to company policy
  • Must be able to get along with co-workers and work effectively in a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced banking, credit, risk management, or financial analysis certifications preferred
  • Minimum two (2) years of leadership, supervisory, and workflow management experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve 1-4 Family Construction Status forms and ADC Loan Reclassification forms as assigned
  • Review Annual Credit Exposure Reviews for accuracy, completeness, risk assessment quality, and timely completion
  • Support the timely preparation of complete and accurate credit packages for approving authorities
  • Directly supervise Credit Analysts and maintain day-to-day responsibility for performance, workflow, development, and accountability
  • Provide ongoing training, coaching, mentorship, and technical guidance to credit staff
  • Coordinate workload needs between analysts and underwriters as necessary to support departmental priorities and maintain effective service delivery
  • Support and reinforce consistent application of credit policy, underwriting expectations, financial analysis standards, and documentation requirements across staff work product
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality
