The opportunity Reporting to the Commercial Portfolio Manager, this role supports the analysis, preparation, and review of commercial and business lending relationships across the credit lifecycle. The work includes evaluating borrower financial capacity, preparing credit presentations and recommendations, supporting renewals and reviews, and helping maintain accurate reporting and documentation. Requirements

  • Strong analytical ability and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret financial information and identify key credit risks.
  • Working knowledge of commercial credit analysis principles, including borrower capacity, cash flow analysis, financial statement review, and underwriting fundamentals.
  • Ability to organize findings, exercise sound judgment, and communicate recommendations clearly and professionally.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with lending staff, business members, and internal partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy, follow-through, and strong documentation practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort working with reports, spreadsheets, and loan-related systems.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively in a team-based lending environment.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, compliance, and consistent adherence to credit union policies and procedures.
  • Education or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, plus progressive experience in credit analysis, commercial lending, underwriting, banking, credit union operations, or a related financial environment. Leveling and placement may vary based on depth of experience, demonstrated analytical capability, and ability to independently manage more complex credit relationships and related responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in commercial lending, business banking, credit union lending, or financial services.
  • Experience analyzing business and personal financial statements, tax returns, and cash flow.
  • Knowledge of commercial loan underwriting, portfolio review practices, and lending documentation.
  • Awareness of the economic and market factors that influence commercial borrowers and lending risk.
  • Experience supporting or interacting with member business accounts and commercial loan operations.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial information provided by businesses and individuals to assess creditworthiness and overall loan risk.
  • Evaluate borrower capacity to repay, capital position, cash flow, collateral considerations, and broader economic factors to support sound underwriting recommendations.
  • Prepare clear, well-supported credit presentations, memos, and analysis for new loan requests, renewals, reviews, and related credit actions.
  • Review personal and business tax returns, financial statements, and cash flow information to identify strengths, concerns, and emerging risks.
  • Support commercial lending activities through portfolio monitoring, financial documentation collection, report review, and ongoing relationship support.
  • Assist with loan structuring, documentation, renewals, modifications, and other commercial lending support activities, depending on experience and assigned scope.
  • Help maintain accuracy in loan-related reports, tracking tools, and supporting documentation.
  • Stay informed on local and national economic, financial, political, and legislative developments that may affect commercial lending activity and portfolio performance.
  • Ensure compliance with credit union policies, lending procedures, and applicable laws and regulations, including training and awareness related to AML, OFAC, BSA, Reg P, and the Patriot Act.
  • Contribute to a high-quality member and internal partner experience by supporting responsive, thoughtful, and well-executed commercial lending service.
