About The Position

Customers Bank is seeking a Commercial Credit Analyst / Underwriter to join their team, reporting to the Credit Underwriting Lead. This role operates under the independent risk umbrella and supports commercial real estate lending activities. The position involves originating comprehensive written credit analyses, conducting client monitoring, and performing follow-ups based on financial information and industry understanding. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, analytical thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of commercial real estate credit analysis experience in a banking institution preferred.
  • Experience in preparation of credit memoranda is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with nCino and Salesforce is strongly preferred.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Strong skills working with MS Excel.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and business acumen.
  • Ability to build strong relationships.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Ability to work with the Microsoft Suite and learn/work with other Customers Bank’s applications.
  • Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude, CoPilot and ChatGPT.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship, now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Perform financial statement spreading and originate comprehensive written analysis for new clients and periodic annual reviews, as well as other credit-related memoranda for assigned credits.
  • Prepare industry research using available resources to complete credit analysis or assist lending officers in the credit decision process.
  • Read and understand loan documents, discuss loan document issues with account officers, borrowers, and outside counsel to ensure compliance with bank-approved terms and conditions upon closing.
  • Monitor post-closing covenant and financial reporting compliance.
  • Assist lending and credit officers in maintaining complete and updated credit files for all assigned borrowers, including following up with clients for current financial statements and other required information.
  • Meet with clients and prospects alongside account managers to gain a deeper understanding of a client’s business activities and financial condition.
  • Provide other credit administration support to lending officers and the Regional Credit Officer as needed to manage credit risk and maintain loan portfolio quality.
  • Assist with follow-up on loan delinquencies and account overdrafts, preparation of Adverse Action Notices, collection of information for turndown and withdrawn application files, and follow-up on missing loan documents, insurance, etc.
