Function Description: Perform periodic reviews for Bellco originated loans and purchased participations from other credit unions utilizing Bellco approved forms and methodology, use business, personal and global financial data, make risk rating grade recommendations, review adverse graded loans for any requested modifications to mitigate risk and preserve Bellco’s credit quality. Reports to: Senior Vice President - Commercial Lending Supervisory or Managerial Responsibility: None Contacts: Bellco’s members and other contacts, such as office managers and CPAs, other credit union departments, credit union officials, commercial lending department members, external financial service providers, CUSO employees, other credit union personnel, auditors, examiners.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree with emphasis in business or finance, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5-7 years commercial underwriting experience, including moderately complex commercial real estate transactions.
  • 5+ years overall banking experience, including client-facing roles.
  • Operating knowledge of banking regulations, intermediate knowledge of financial analysis.
  • Previous experience in risk ratings and loan structures for commercial loans.
  • Intermediate experience with commercial credit policies, procedures and practices.
  • Understanding methodology of property, business and individual cash flows, global cash flows and complex legal organizational structures
  • Ability to analyze and underwrite moderately complex commercial real estate loans, with loan amounts ranging from approximately $1 million to $25 million
  • Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to compose complex and lengthy review forms, summarizing strengths and weaknesses
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities at one time
  • Ability to manage heavy workloads of loan transactions
  • Ability to assess risk versus investment for credit quality
  • Ability to work independently and within a structured environment
  • Operating within stated policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates Bellco’s Act Nice Behaviors and Core Values in all interactions with members, prospective members, and personnel in other Bellco departments.
  • Proficient and independent review and analysis of company and individual financial data for loan(s) and relationships for approval (or decline), including suggesting ways to mitigate credit risk.
  • Recommend risk rating changes as supported by periodic review or other loan analysis.
  • Underwrite and analyze new commercial loan requests as necessary to maintain service levels.
  • Responsible for operational excellence and regulatory compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations as it relates to commercial loans.
  • Provides a valuable and enjoyable experience to both internal customers and members during interactions. Consistently suggests ways to improve the member/customer experience through improved processes and technology.
  • Recommend and be able to deliver ongoing training for others as needed.
  • Work with participating credit unions to facilitate the supply of all required source documents and executed loan documents during evaluation and after the participation sale, including annual review documents and related source documents.
  • Work with Centennial Lending CUSO personnel on closed loan files serviced by the CUSO.
  • Occasional driving to vendor locations or member meetings may be required.
  • Occasionally perform property inspections in state the Denver metro area as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Be available to work as scheduled and report to work on time.
  • Be willing to accept supervision and work well with others.
