About The Position

We're looking for an experienced hot-side service technician to install, diagnose, and repair commercial gas and electric cooking equipment for restaurants, schools, healthcare facilities, and other foodservice operations across the Evansville Tri-State area. This is a customer-facing field role: you'll be dispatched to accounts, troubleshoot equipment on-site, and get kitchens back up and running.

Requirements

  • 2+ years hands-on experience servicing commercial cooking equipment, or equivalent experience in commercial gas appliance / gas HVAC service.
  • Strong working knowledge of gas systems and combustion, ignition systems, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and use diagnostic tools (multimeter, manometer, combustion analyzer).
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (company vehicle provided).
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in hot kitchen environments, tight spaces, and varied conditions.
  • Professional, dependable, and comfortable working independently in customer locations.

Nice To Haves

  • CFESA certification (Base, Gas, Electrical, and/or Steam).
  • Factory/authorized service (ASA) certifications from OEMs such as Rational, Frymaster, Pitco, Vulcan, Garland, Henny Penny, Alto-Shaam, or Middleby brands.
  • EPA 608 certification and commercial refrigeration experience — cross-training between hot side and cold side is a plus.
  • Experience with combi ovens and electronic/PID control systems.
  • Prior field-service and direct customer-service experience.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair commercial cooking equipment: fryers, ranges, griddles, char-broilers, convection and combi ovens, steamers, steam kettles, tilt/braising pans, holding cabinets, proofers, salamanders, conveyor/deck ovens, along with other similar types of commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Read electrical schematics and ladder diagrams; use a multimeter to isolate electrical and control faults.
  • Perform steam-equipment service, including generators/boilers, water-level and safety controls, and descaling.
  • Make gas connections and perform leak checks; verify safe operation before returning any unit to service.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, calibrations, and safety inspections on customer equipment.
  • Handle warranty repairs and accurately document parts, labor, and findings on every service ticket.
  • Communicate professionally with kitchen staff and managers, and advise customers on repair vs. replacement.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call/emergency service schedule, including some nights and weekends.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked service vehicle.
