About The Position

The Commercial Contracts Attorney will work closely with the Assistant General Counsel. The ideal candidate will have experience reviewing, negotiating and drafting a variety of commercial contracts and vendor agreements in a law firm setting. In addition, the candidate should have the ability to work under tight deadlines, handle multiple competing priorities and provide practical legal advice. Knowledge of the systems and technology that support the Firm’s practice is preferable. Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities Assist with reviewing, negotiating and drafting a wide variety of commercial contracts and vendor agreements (including software licenses, hardware, hosted services, consulting and recruiting) Conduct due diligence reviews of vendors. Ability to handle confidential information and material with the highest degree of discretion and professional responsibility Participate in continuing education and conduct research to advance competencies Ability to work under tight deadlines, handle multiple competing priorities and provide practical legal advice Perform other duties as assigned Education Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or a combination of education and related experience providing equivalent knowledge required J.D. from an accredited law school required and in good standing Skills and Experience Minimum 2 years of experience in contract law and drafting. Previous experience in a law firm, professional services or consulting firm is strongly desired Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal stakeholders and third parties. Strong attentions to detail and excellent organizational skills Ability to follow up and track open assignments with stakeholders Motivated individual with an enthusiasm for learning and a positive attitude. Salary Information NY Only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $140,000 to $160,000 at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible. Simpson Thacher will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or a combination of education and related experience providing equivalent knowledge required
  • J.D. from an accredited law school required and in good standing
