Commercial Construction Superintendent

NGC General ContractorsCharlotte, NC
Onsite

About The Position

NGC General Contractors is seeking professional, experienced superintendents to serve as the primary onsite leader for commercial, federal, and occupied-facility remodel projects. This role is more similar to an on-site project manager and supervisor than a traditional working superintendent. The superintendent will direct subcontractors, manage daily site activity, maintain safety and quality standards, and communicate clearly with project managers, clients, and building representatives. This position requires commercial construction experience, strong blueprint-reading ability, and the professionalism to manage active or secure environments.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in the field as a Superintendent, Foreman, or Site Lead on commercial, federal, or occupied-facility remodels.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, trade coordination, and active/secure facility work.
  • Ability to read drawings and execute a PM-led schedule.
  • Professional, client-facing communication skills.
  • Ability to represent NGC well with national-account and federal clients.
  • Comfortable using basic technology, including daily photo and report uploads from your phone.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Personal phone/service required.
  • Strong follow-through, jobsite organization, and ability to communicate issues early.
  • Ability to maintain safety, quality, and professionalism standards with zero tolerance for unsafe work.

Responsibilities

  • Own the jobsite daily and be onsite 5 days per week, typically 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
  • Keep the site clean, organized, safe, secure, and presentable to the client and inspectors at all times.
  • Sequence and coordinate subcontractors according to the NGC schedule.
  • Make sure trades have access, information, and clear direction to complete work efficiently.
  • Serve as the onsite point of contact for client staff, building staff, and project stakeholders.
  • Communicate professionally, calmly, and solution-focused in occupied or secure facility environments.
  • Submit daily updates and photos to the NGC Project Manager.
  • Report completed work, issues, manpower, delays, and field conditions clearly and consistently.
  • Enforce PPE, jobsite cleanliness, access control, owner rules, and safety standards.
  • Collect JSAs daily.
  • Review the NGC-provided schedule, flag conflicts early, and help resequence work to keep activation dates on track.
  • Be available for occasional nights or weekends when phasing or client operations require it.

Benefits

  • Project-based contract with extension potential.
  • Salary: $100,000 - $140,000 per year, based on experience.
  • Opportunity to work on high-profile commercial and federal projects across multiple states.
  • Direct reporting line to Project Managers for streamlined decision-making and support.
  • Local-to-project opportunity with no travel required.
