About The Position

Engen Contracting (ECI) is seeking a Commercial Construction Superintendent in Houston, Texas, to lead field operations for high-quality ground-up and tenant improvement commercial projects. This role involves ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget, while mentoring trade partners and driving company growth. ECI is a commercial general contractor with a strong reputation for quality and a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement, working across various markets including retail, restaurants, self-storage, medical, office, education, and industrial. As a Superintendent at ECI, you will be responsible for all day-to-day field operations, requiring strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to build relationships with clients, trade partners, and project teams. Requirements

  • Experience as a Superintendent with a Commercial General Contractor.
  • Experience managing ground-up and tenant improvement commercial construction projects.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.

  • Strong understanding of civil, structural, architectural, and MEP coordination.

  • Commercial General Contractor experience is required.
  • Valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
  • A valid Texas Driver's License is required. Candidates relocating from out of state must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead field operations from mobilization through project completion.
  • Develop, maintain, and update project schedules (Microsoft Project experience is a plus).
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, consultants, and municipal agencies.
  • Conduct weekly subcontractor coordination meetings.
  • Drive production while maintaining quality, safety, and schedule expectations.
  • Enforce OSHA standards and ECI safety policies.
  • Conduct weekly toolbox safety meetings.
  • Coordinate inspections and ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and applicable building codes.
  • Generate and manage punch lists through project closeout.
  • Maintain exceptional attention to detail throughout every phase of construction.
  • Complete daily reports, progress photos, and project documentation in Procore.
  • Communicate effectively with Project Managers, Owners, Architects, Engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors.
  • Respond promptly to requests from office staff and project stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP construction documents.
  • Coordinate subcontractor scheduling and sequencing.
  • Review and verify subcontractor change orders.
  • Manage material deliveries, equipment logistics, and overall site coordination.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of both horizontal and vertical commercial construction, including sitework, utilities, structural systems, and MEP coordination.
  • Identify challenges early and proactively develop effective solutions.
