With multiple offices, more than 300 employees, and 7 divisions – Asphalt and Concrete, Waterproofing and Specialty Coatings, Roofing, Snow Removal and Parking Lot Sweeping, Landscaping, and Construction, DCPS provides specialized, integrated service-solutions to commercial property owners and managers. Position Summary The Commercial Construction Estimator II is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial construction projects. This role analyzes project documents, collaborates with internal teams and external partners, and supports proposal development to ensure successful project acquisition and execution.
Requirements
- 3–6 years of experience in construction estimating or a related field
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and project management principles
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents
- Proficiency in estimating software and tools such as Bluebeam, Excel, DocuSketch, and CompanyCam
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Nice To Haves
- Experience estimating commercial construction projects
- Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Experience collaborating with project management and field teams
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
- Review architectural plans and engineering drawings to fully understand project scope and requirements
- Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, and project managers to gather pricing and clarify specifications
- Support proposal preparation, including participation in client presentations as needed
- Maintain and update a directory of suppliers, subcontractors, and pricing data
- Track construction materials, trends, and cost changes to ensure accurate estimating
- Utilize estimating software and tools to perform cost analysis, forecasting, and budgeting
- Maintain records of estimated versus actual project costs for benchmarking and continuous improvement
- Assist with contract negotiations to ensure projects align with budget and scope expectations
- Collaborate with project management teams to ensure estimates align with project execution and outcomes
