About The Position

National General is seeking a Commercial Casualty Adjuster (Specialty Claims) to investigate, evaluate, and resolve complex specialty claims involving commercial casualty losses. This role is responsible for determining coverage, assessing liability and damages, conducting detailed investigations, and negotiating claim settlements within authority limits. The ideal candidate will have strong experience handling commercial casualty claims, attorney-represented files, and/or auto bodily injury claims, with the ability to manage complex exposures, collaborate with internal and external partners, and deliver exceptional customer service throughout the claims process.

  • Negotiation and settlement of moderate to complex injury claims
  • Subrogation and fraud identification experience preferred
  • Individuals who currently hold an active insurance license must terminate all existing appointments prior to onboarding and must not hold any outside appointments at any point during employment.
  • Applicants seeking an adjuster role who also hold a resident producer license must formally surrender that license when instructed to by the licensing team.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required, as it is not our practice to sponsor individuals for work visas.
  • Must have a dedicated, private workspace free from distractions, along with appropriate desk and seating.
  • Reliable internet is required, with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload.

Responsibilities

  • Applies advanced understanding of insurance policies written by the company, the industry, and organizational relationships within the company and department
  • Handles investigation regarding all aspects of advanced auto claims (coverage, liability and damages) with the exercise discretion and independence within increased level of authority
  • For claims involving injuries (if handled), learns how to review, evaluate, and negotiate basic to moderate injury claims
  • Recognizes and identifies body parts of a vehicle and understanding other potential property damage
  • Identifies customer needs and works to meet those needs using appropriate customer service skills
  • Determines subrogation or fraud potential and how to handle
  • Applies increased experience in the Adjuster II level or a rotation into a specialty position (Coverage, Investigation Specialist, Total Loss, Initial Handler, Extended Handler, etc.)
