About The Position

The Commercial Maintenance Lead is responsible for supporting daily operations within a commercial facility while leading a small team of skilled maintenance technicians. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Facilities Operations, this role ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient functioning of building and utility systems. The successful candidate will support all hands on maintenance activities, drive continuous improvement, and help develop team capability.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of maintenance experience in a commercial or industrial property setting.
  • Prior experience in commercial facilities maintenance, including preventive maintenance and exposure to utilities such as power, chilled water, compressed air, HVAC, water systems, wastewater, and dust collection.
  • Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing equipment failures and reporting component issues.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily operations of building systems including: Power distribution, Chilled water systems, Compressed air, HVAC, Dust collection equipment.
  • Lead timely response to equipment issues to avoid or minimize production downtime.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs on building systems such as general facility upkeep tasks, plumbing, roofs, drains, grounds equipment, and HVAC.
  • Clean, lubricate, and maintain pumps, valves, electrical components, mechanical systems, and hydraulic devices.
  • Assist with installation, modification, and upgrades of building equipment and systems.
  • Identify operational issues and drive problem-solving efforts with effective countermeasures, maintenance repairs, and vendor/contractor coordination.
  • Create standardized processes and documentation for various control systems.
  • Perform failure diagnostics and accurately report component failures and repair requirements.
  • Contribute to achieving company targets and objectives, including KPIs related to safety, quality, and cost efficiency.
  • May serve as the sole maintenance staff member during certain shifts, responding to priority/emergency situations and working extended hours, including overtime, shift work, or on-call duty as required.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Facilities Maintenance team members by providing daily guidance, clear expectations, technical support, and structured work plans.
  • Develop the next generation of Facilities Maintenance professionals through skill-building and knowledge transfer.
