About The Position

Zions Bank is seeking a Commercial Banking Underwriter for its Equipment Finance Division in Midvale, Utah. This role is an opportunity for career advancement within the banking industry. The ideal candidate will conduct credit investigations, loan analysis, underwriting, and documentation review for loan analysis. This includes investigating credit and financial information from various sources, understanding loan requests and business relationships to ensure accuracy, analyzing financial statements, and making recommendations for credit approvals. The role also involves analyzing financial conditions and trends, reporting non-compliance with loan covenants, determining cash flow, preparing credit summaries, and providing credit information as requested. Ensuring credit files are current is also a key responsibility, along with assisting with projects and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor's in finance, business, accounting or a related field and 4+ yrs credit/financial analysis, lending, underwriting or other directly related experience.
  • A combination of education and experience may meet job requirements.
  • Working knowledge of financial and spread analysis, credit, lending and underwriting processes and principles.
  • Experience working with various types of loans.
  • Working knowledge of credit risk, legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work with lending officers and staff.
  • Good client relationship and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and recommendations regarding loans.
  • Working knowledge of computer software programs including spreadsheets, word processing, etc. required.

  • Preference for Equipment Finance or Leasing backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct credit investigations, credit and loan analysis, underwriting and other documentation information pertaining to loan analysis.
  • Investigate all available sources of credit and financial information, including reporting services, credit bureaus, other companies, main office files, and branches.
  • Understand loan requests and business relationships to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial information received for loan renewals.
  • Analyze financial statements and related material and make recommendations for approvals of credits.
  • Analyze financial conditions and trends, review and report non-compliance with loan covenants.
  • Determine cash flow using appropriate tax analysis.
  • Prepare summaries, present facts, and offer opinions concerning credit-worthiness and any risk items or issues.
  • Provide credit information and references for customers, loan officers, or other agencies as requested.
  • Ensure that all credit files include current finances.
  • May assist with projects as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
