About The Position

Technica LLC seeks to recruit for the position of Appliance Mechanic on a Government contract with a place of performance at Fort Bliss, TX. This role involves conducting routine repairs and responding to emergencies at Fort Bliss & McGregor Range Dining Facilities (DFACs) pertaining to inoperative Food Service Equipment (FSE) during scheduled hours, afterhours, weekends and holidays. The mechanic will inspect, install, rebuild, adjust, and replace commercial kitchen appliances, commercial refrigeration equipment, and HVAC equipment. This may include, but is not limited to: Walk-ins, steamers, convection ovens, dishwashers, booster heaters, warmers, exhaust hoods, serving lines, ice machines, bearings, motors, heat exchanges, boilers, air conditioner compressors, exhaust systems, and chillers. The position requires the use of schematics to analyze, inspect, and troubleshoot electrical circuits, following diagrams, and conducting tests with circuit testers and other equipment to determine shortcomings and deficiencies of FSE. The mechanic will perform major and/or minor repair, as well as preventative and corrective maintenance of commercial kitchen appliances, commercial refrigeration, and HVAC equipment, and will record all maintenance and repair work performed. Responsibilities also include obtaining quotes for repair parts, ordering, tracking, recording, and maintaining an inventory of parts, and assisting in the management of warranties. The role is responsible for coordination and prioritizing repair tasks, responding in a timely manner, providing speedy service/repairs, and reducing downtime of FSE. The mechanic will communicate equipment status and repair or replacement costs to the Supervisor and/or Shop Lead and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • HVAC/EPA/Sealed System certification (EPA 608 certification) is required.
  • 2 years of recent, professional appliance repair experience.
  • Must be available for on-call after normal business hours during the week as well as weekends and holidays.
  • Must have the ability to assess and troubleshoot commercial ovens ignition systems, gas systems, burner systems, and electrical boards for repairs.
  • Must have the ability to assess and troubleshoot commercial refrigerator appliance cooling systems and supporting components such as compressors, relays, capacitors, and starting components.
  • Must have the ability to test, remove and replace compressors.
  • Must be able to lift on an occasional basis a maximum of 70 pounds with frequent or constant lifting of 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand for at least two continuous hours.
  • Must be able to work in cramped areas for at least two continuous hours.
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions to include intense heat, heavy wind, blowing sand, heavy rain, and snow and sleet.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Must be a US Citizen or US permanent resident for more than 3 years in order to obtain NACI and CAC Card eligibility.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and background checks related to the position.

  • Orders, track, record and maintain inventory parts for commercial kitchen appliances, commercial refrigeration equipment and all HVAC equipment.
  • Assist in management of warrantees.
  • Responsible for coordination and prioritizing repair tasks, responding in a timely manner, providing speedy service/repairs and reduced downtime of FSE.
  • Communicate equipment status and repair or replacement costs to Supervisor and/or Shop Lead.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
