Sr. Commercial Analyst
About The Position
The Senior Commercial Finance Analyst serves as a strategic finance business partner to the Commercial organization, providing financial analysis, insights, and decision support that drive profitable growth. This position is responsible for providing timely pricing and profitability analysis to sales and financial stakeholders. This will be accomplished through the use of pricing and data tools, sales and customer feedback and an understanding of cost and profitability data. Additionally, this position serves as the primary coordinator and mentor for finance interns, helping develop future finance talent through recruiting, onboarding, training, and career development initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Sales, Business Administration, Economics, or related field required
- 4-7 years of related experience
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling
Nice To Haves
- Experience mentoring interns, co-ops, FLDP participants, or junior analysts is a plus
Responsibilities
- Use pricing and other data tools to provide timely price quotes to Account Managers
- Develop comprehensive recommendations for customer and product portfolio pricing and management
- Support Account Managers in developing strategies and providing pricing and deal evaluation feedback for contract deck proposals and large RFQ’s
- Conduct profitability reviews with Category Directors and Account Managers to drive actions that will improve Category profit margins
- Provide analysis and support for new Commercial initiatives and programs as they may arise
- Develop a deep understanding of cost drivers throughout the supply chain that impact profitability
- Present to senior regional leadership on contract negotiations regarding financial impact of deals
- Support the implementation of standard methodologies to determine and optimize product, customer and market segment profitability
- Collaborate with Sales to gather competitive intelligence and market feedback to ensure pricing is competitive and to identify trends in the marketplace
- Analyze customer, product, channel, and market profitability to uncover actionable recommendations that drive margin expansion and strategic growth
- Partner with sales to identify and evaluate opportunities to improve profitability, revenue growth, and overall business performance
- Identify inefficiencies within financial and commercial processes and lead initiatives to improve reporting accuracy, decision-making speed and operational effectiveness
- Drive continuous improvement efforts through automation, standardization, and implementation of best practices
- Manage finance intern onboarding, training, project assignments, performance feedback, and development activities
- Mentor interns and create meaningful learning opportunities that develop technical and leadership skills
