About The Position

As an NBCUniversal Academic Year intern, you will work on real projects, be part of a collaborative culture, and receive support to grow across two full semesters. The Internship Program focuses on impact, allowing interns to contribute to meaningful work while building valuable skills. The Payment Operations & Fraud team at NBCUniversal is crucial for ensuring seamless payment experiences and protecting the business from fraudulent activity in a consumer-driven economy. This team collaborates with key vendors and uses data-driven strategies to optimize payment processing, reduce friction, and safeguard the customer experience at scale. This role provides a unique opportunity to understand the intersection of payments, fraud prevention, and customer experience within a global media and streaming environment.

Requirements

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2026 through April 2027)
  • December 2026 graduates are not eligible for this Academic Year Internship Program
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits)
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027
  • Must be working from a location within a U.S. state during all hours worked
  • Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Students with class standing of junior or above preferred
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Proficiency with tools such as Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and clearly present insights
  • Comfortable asking questions, digging into data, and proactively seeking solutions to complex problems

Responsibilities

  • Gain hands-on exposure to both the payments and fraud ecosystems
  • Analyze global authentication rates to balance customer friction and fraud risk
  • Evaluate payment trends to inform checkout optimization
  • Assess processing methods such as network tokens versus PAN to identify efficiency opportunities
  • Investigate “Do Not Honor” declines to uncover root causes and recommend mitigation strategies
