About The Position

This role is responsible for monitoring the financial health of an assigned loan portfolio, communicating with clients, and underwriting new and existing transactions. The position involves leading client meetings, internal discussions, and ensuring compliance with the Bank's Credit Policy. The Credit Risk Manager will also mentor junior team members, perform due diligence, and oversee the legal documentation and closing process. Additionally, the role requires maintaining oversight of portfolio monitoring requirements, client deliverables, and compliance with loan agreements. This includes validating financial reports, risk rating credits, preparing quarterly reports, and participating in special projects.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of policies and procedures, underwriting guidelines and RACs.
  • Advanced knowledge of credit underwriting, financial accounting and loan documentation.
  • Advanced knowledge of how a deal should be structured and comfortability with conversing this structure to lenders.
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong level of interpersonal and social skills needed to interact with loan officers, administrative staff and customers.

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a commercial lending environment in a credit-oriented and underwriting position.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring the ongoing financial health of an assigned loan portfolio.
  • Maintaining communication and dialogue with clients regarding credit-related reporting and business updates.
  • Underwriting and structuring new prospective transactions, renewals, extensions, increases, and modifications for existing clients.
  • Leading external client meetings and internal deal team discussions and approval discussions with senior management.
  • Identifying, outlining, and mitigating risks associated with potential lending opportunities.
  • Advising on matters related to the Bank's Credit Policy and related procedures.
  • Providing guidance on loan structures and risk appetite.
  • Reviewing credit packages completed by junior team members and providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Performing due diligence and analysis, producing credit presentations, and ensuring timely completion of underwriting.
  • Presenting credit requests to the required level of credit authority.
  • Overseeing the legal documentation and closing process.
  • Approving transactions under individual lending authority, when applicable.
  • Maintaining oversight of portfolio monitoring requirements and client deliverables.
  • Ensuring compliance with all terms of the loan agreement, including financial reporting, covenant compliance, collateral monitoring, required third-party reports, annual reviews, and maturing loans and lines of credit.
  • Coordinating with the business team to maintain direct contact with clients for account monitoring, administration, and site visits.
  • Validating and analyzing reports such as financial statements, borrowing base certificates, collateral field examinations, appraisals, and engineering reports to verify compliance.
  • Escalating issues to appropriate levels and developing action plans.
  • Ensuring credits are accurately risk-rated and properly monitored and reported.
  • Preparing quarterly reports and analysis, including Criticized Loan Monitoring Reports and other portfolio management reports.
  • Participating in special projects and requests related to portfolio management.
