About The Position

Mako Industries is seeking two experienced Combo Fitter/Welders to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidates will possess strong fitting and welding skills, be capable of interpreting blueprints, and demonstrate the ability to fabricate and weld complex structural assemblies while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.

Requirements

  • Must successfully take and pass a PCS 2G Plate Certification Test or provide documentation of an equivalent or higher-level passing weld test completed within the past six (6) months.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in GMAW and FCAW welding processes.
  • Ability to fit and weld complex structural weldments with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
  • Knowledge and understanding of standard AWS welding procedures and specifications.
  • Strong math skills and ability to accurately read a tape measure.
  • Basic working knowledge of hand tools and fabrication equipment.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Must possess all required personal trade tools.
  • Must provide a welding machine compatible with job requirements (PCS currently utilizes Lincoln 365 MP welders).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in structural steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing environments.
  • Multiple welding certifications or advanced welding qualifications.
  • Experience working with complex fabrication assemblies and tight tolerances.

Responsibilities

  • Fit, fabricate, and weld complex structural weldments according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Perform welding using GMAW (MIG) and FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding) processes.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings.
  • Measure, mark, and verify dimensions using tape measures and other precision measuring tools.
  • Safely operate welding equipment, hand tools, grinders, and other fabrication equipment.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with quality standards and project requirements.
  • Follow AWS welding procedures and industry best practices.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, quality personnel, and fellow team members to meet production schedules.
