About The Position

Sets up and operates oxyacetylene, arc, insert gas tungsten arc, insert gas metal arc and resistance welding equipment to weld a wide variety of experimental and production parts, subassemblies, assemblies and structures of all types of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Performs all types of brazing and soldering to join various metallic materials. This position is an onsite role. Must pass Technical Interview and pass an external hands-on assessment at a Raytheon approved supplier. This position is part of a collective bargaining agreement. Wage and workplace conditions, including shift times, are subject to this agreement. Individuals hired into this position will be represented by a union. This position requires a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 6 years production experience with a primary responsibility in fusion welding complex weldments requiring various positions/processes (GMAW and GTAW) of multiple alloys where there is inspection to a Common Industry Standard (AWS, ASME, MIL or ISO).
  • Acceptable proof of current or prior welding certification to a Common Industry Standard (AWS, ASME, MIL or ISO).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Must pass Technical Interview and pass an external hands-on assessment at a Raytheon approved supplier.

Responsibilities

  • Works from prints, specifications, sketches, process sheets, engineers' instructions and written and /or oral instructions to perform various welding, brazing and soldering operations to meet bot h Company and military specifications.
  • Improvises or fabricates holding fixtures as necessary.
  • Selects or uses specified welding equipment making any necessary setups and adjustments.
  • Selects required filler materials for the proper fusion of various metals and alloys.
  • Determines sequence of welding operations utilizing extensive knowledge of welding heat effects in order to avoid distortion and maintain required close tolerances.
  • Performs welding on a wide range of Company products.
  • Pre-heats and post-heats materials when required.
  • Utilizes tensile testing equipment to perform required pull tests prior to resistance welding.
  • Performs all types of brazing using such equipment as gas torches, induction brazers and vacuum brazing furnaces and using appropriate fillers and fluxes.
  • Performs soft soldering operations using such equipment as soldering iron, ultrasonic solderer and gas torches.
  • Performs any repair or rework on purchased and shop items involving the same level of skills required for the above duties.
  • Performs general maintenance and housekeeping of workplace, tools and equipment.
  • Maintains records, moves materials and follows safety rules in performance of duties.
  • Performs other similar duties as required or directed.
