About The Position

RQ Construction is hiring skilled Combination Pipe Welders to support mechanical construction work at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay in Georgia, and the surrounding areas. This is a fully on-site role performed on an active military installation, with compensation aligned to Davis-Bacon Act prevailing wage requirements. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5-8 years of relevant field experience (or equivalent) working as a Combination Welder in commercial or facilities environments.
  • Successfully pass a 6G Gas Tungsten Arc Welding and Shielded Metal Arc Welding certification test prior to hire.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 30 certifications.
  • Evidence of identity and U.S. work authorization at the time of hire.
  • Successfully pass a drug screening and commercial criminal background check, including a stricter Department of Defense background check, for access to job site at military base.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an apprenticeship program (union, in-house, military, or trade school) that combines classroom instruction with hands-on training.
  • Experience on government, military, or large-scale commercial projects.
  • Specific training or certificates in Trenching and shoring, Fall protection, Confined space, Forklift/Manlift operation, Power-actuated tools, Lockout/Tagout, Scissor lift/Boom lift, EM-385.

Responsibilities

  • Performing a variety of welding tasks, including joining metal components using techniques such as hand welding, flame cutting, soldering, and brazing.
  • Passing groove weld qualification tests in all positions across multiple materials and welding methods.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in Shielded Metal Arc Welding and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding.
  • Working in a construction environment and complying with all applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
  • Adhering strictly to safety procedures and proper use of tools and equipment in accordance with company standards.
