About The Position

RQ Construction is hiring skilled Combination Pipe Welders to support mechanical construction work at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay in Georgia, and the surrounding areas. This is a fully on-site role performed on an active military installation, with compensation aligned to Davis-Bacon Act prevailing wage requirements. Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
5-8 years of relevant field experience (or equivalent) working as a Combination Welder in commercial or facilities environments.
Successfully pass a 6G Gas Tungsten Arc Welding and Shielded Metal Arc Welding certification test prior to hire.
Current CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 30 certifications.
Evidence of identity and U.S. work authorization at the time of hire.
Successfully pass a drug screening and commercial criminal background check, including a stricter Department of Defense background check, for access to job site at military base.

Nice To Haves

Completion of an apprenticeship program (union, in-house, military, or trade school) that combines classroom instruction with hands-on training.
Experience on government, military, or large-scale commercial projects.
Specific training or certificates in Trenching and shoring, Fall protection, Confined space, Forklift/Manlift operation, Power-actuated tools, Lockout/Tagout, Scissor lift/Boom lift, EM-385.

Responsibilities

Performing a variety of welding tasks, including joining metal components using techniques such as hand welding, flame cutting, soldering, and brazing.
Passing groove weld qualification tests in all positions across multiple materials and welding methods.
Demonstrating proficiency in Shielded Metal Arc Welding and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding.
Working in a construction environment and complying with all applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
Adhering strictly to safety procedures and proper use of tools and equipment in accordance with company standards.
