Colorectal Surgery Division Chief
About The Position
Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, a leading academic medical center and tertiary care referral center in Lebanon NH, seeks a skilled and highly motivated Colorectal Surgeon to lead our Division of Colorectal Surgery. Leading a team of three surgeons and three advanced practice providers, the ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, a commitment to education, and a passion for advancing the field of colorectal surgery through research and innovation. Surgical experience in open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery and a willingness to contribute to the care of patients with cancer, inflammatory bowel, anorectal, and other diseases are ideal. The successful candidate will also have a track record as a leader, with visibility in regional and national surgical societies and demonstrated excellence in interpersonal communication skills and in mentoring surgical residents and junior faculty. Candidates must hold an MD, DO, or equivalent degree, have completed training in general surgery in an ACGME-accredited residency, and have completed an accredited Colorectal Surgery Fellowship. The ideal candidate will have a track record of accomplishment in academic surgery that will enable them to be appointed at the rank of Associate Professor or full Professor at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.
Requirements
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an ACGME- or RCPSC-accredited general surgery residency
- Fellowship training in Colorectal Surgery
- Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery
- Eligible for NH state medical licensure
- Strong clinical background
- Commitment to education
- Passion for advancing the field of colorectal surgery through research and innovation
- Surgical experience in open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery
- Willingness to contribute to the care of patients with cancer, inflammatory bowel, anorectal, and other diseases
- Track record as a leader
- Visibility in regional and national surgical societies

Responsibilities
- Leadership of a division consisting of four surgeons, including the Division Leader, and three advanced practice providers
- Provide a broad-based colorectal practice at our academic medical center
- Opportunity for endoscopy procedures at affiliated hospital locations
- Work within a team-oriented, multidisciplinary setting
- Q4 call by week
- Productivity compensation model
- Active participation in the academic mission of the department, including opportunities for teaching and protected research time. An academic appointment, commensurate with experience, will be requested at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine
