About The Position

Supervise and coordinate a school’s color guard activities. Support each participant in achieving a higher level of personal skill, gaining an enhanced appreciate for color guard and sportsmanship, and fostering an increased level of self-esteem through practice.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience as a participant and/or advisor in color guard.
  • Intermediate communication skills.
  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
  • Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences.
  • Direct color guard performers.
  • Obtain and use, if requested, evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to determine program effectiveness and ensure that program renewal is continuous and responds to student needs.
  • Oversee process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all color guard equipment.
  • Establish performance requirements, enforce academic requirements, and verify each student’s eligibility to participate in color guard.
  • Ensure that program is cost-effective and funds are managed wisely.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
