About The Position

As a Colon & Rectal Surgery Clinic Nurse (RN), you will provide ambulatory nursing care using a systematic approach that includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act, recognized professional standards, and Voyage Healthcare policies. You will collaborate closely with providers and care teams to coordinate patient care, delegate responsibilities when appropriate, and promote patient safety. In this role, you will be instrumental in helping patients access care efficiently while ensuring their medical needs are addressed safely and effectively.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing program
  • Current Minnesota RN licensure in good standing
  • Current CPR certification
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interpret and convey medical information to patients and staff
  • Strong organization skills with and ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated dedication to customer service standards and compassionate care

Nice To Haves

  • GI/Colorectal experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Rooms patients, obtaining and accurately documenting patient vital signs and weight
  • Collects and documents data on patient’s general condition
  • Assists providers with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments
  • Provides patient care as directed by providers
  • Documents all activities, interventions, patient/family responses, and medications in the medical record
  • Transports patients safely using appropriate needs
  • Promotes wellness by providing patient education materials and communicating physician instructions
  • Performs telephone duties including prescription refills, communicating test and pathology results, and relaying clear, concise messages between clinic and patient
  • Adheres to infection control, safety guidelines, and confidentiality policies
  • Cleans and stocks exam rooms and supply areas
  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments as needed
  • Track pathology reports and relays results to physicians
  • Completes and submits billing tickets for colonoscopies, consults, and surgeries
  • Reviews monthly procedure lists from hospital, West Health, and Maple Grove outpatient surgery centers to verify accurate billing
  • Sends colonoscopy recall letters six months in advance
  • Tracks colonoscopy recalls and updates recall data for all procedures in eCW
  • Performs other duties as assigned
