About The Position

The Collision Estimator is responsible for managing various aspects of the body shop's daily operations, including estimate breakdown, parts management, quality control, and customer communication. This role involves working closely with technicians, painters, other dealership departments, insurance representatives, parts wholesalers, and customers to ensure efficient and high-quality repair services. The position also includes responsibilities such as investigating new equipment, forecasting departmental goals, maintaining shop appearance, and handling administrative tasks related to repair orders and billing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years experience in a dealership estimator position preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Break down estimates into labor and parts before job is started so body men are aware of time allowances.
  • Follow up on parts department orders to ensure parts availability.
  • Revise and approve time allowances of each job.
  • Assist with quality check of completed jobs.
  • Prepare final billing for completed repair orders.
  • Aid the Body Shop Manager in daily shop activities, including communications with technicians, painters, other departments, insurance company representatives, parts wholesalers, and customers.
  • Investigate new equipment and tools in the field and recommend purchases.
  • Forecast goals and objectives for the department.
  • Check the general Body Shop appearance (outside and inside).
  • Estimate writing, repair selling, job scheduling, completion date notification, repair order billing, filing, problem solving, phone answering, supplement authorization and follow-up, weekly payroll, Quality Control maintenance and continual education in the Body Shop Industry.
  • Examine Body Shop ROs and other paperwork in Body Shop Office.
  • Make occasional inspections of completed ready-for-delivery body work to ensure quality and general appearance of the car is acceptable.
