About The Position

The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association is currently seeking a College Prep Coordinator, YOLA. Founded in 1919, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association's mission is to perform, present, and promote music in its varied forms at the highest level of excellence to a diverse and large audience, both at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl. The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association is dedicated to continuing its pre-eminent status in the music world of the 21st century. YOLA provides incomparable and equitable access to a high-quality and intensive music education for more than 1,700 elementary, middle, and high school students from diverse and vibrant communities across Los Angeles at five unique sites. In providing this access, YOLA supports young people to leverage their learned skills and artistic identities and create transformational change for themselves and their communities. In 2021, the Beckmen YOLA Center was opened as a purpose-built space for program-wide YOLA activities as well as a cultural arts resource in the city of Inglewood. The YOLA College Prep Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, and evaluation of YOLA’s College Prep programming, ensuring students and their families have access to the tools, knowledge, and opportunities needed to pursue academic and career pathways. Working closely with the YOLA Programs Outcome Manager and serving as a point of connection with YOLA hub teams, this role helps develop and implement programming, and support partnerships with colleges, universities, and external organizations that advance student postsecondary outcomes. Centered on student engagement and access, the coordinator supports program operations through event coordination, student check‑ins, partnership communication, scholarship support, and data systems that track student participation and outcomes. The role also contributes to program development and continuous improvement through evaluation, documentation, and data‑informed decision‑making, reinforcing YOLA’s values‑driven, community‑centered approach to student success. This position is ideal for a highly organized, collaborative, and relationship‑driven individual committed to supporting young people in achieving their goals within a vibrant music education environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support development and expansion of College Prep programming by identifying gaps and strengthening alignment with YOLA goals and community impact.
  • Assist with program evaluation, expense tracking, and budget monitoring.
  • Contribute to internal planning, brainstorming, and development of documentation, templates, and processes; continuously improving processes.
  • Provide mentorship to team members.
  • Conduct student check-ins, track engagement and support requests, and connect students and families with relevant resources and opportunities.
  • Develop session topics, calendars, and engagement strategies in collaboration with partners and YOLA teams.
  • Coordinate and support logistics for workshops, information sessions, and events, including scheduling, promotion, communication, and technical needs.
  • Support event execution, documentation, follow-up, and initiatives that advance students’ academic and career pathways.
  • Maintain relationships with College Prep partners, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and tracking commitments and reporting.
  • Support outreach and partnership development to expand student opportunities.
  • Research, track, and communicate external opportunities (e.g., scholarships, internships) and support application processes as needed.
  • Maintain and update student rosters and tracking systems (e.g., Salesforce), including engagement, YOLA involvement, and participation data.
  • Track student engagement, support requests, and external opportunity participation across programs and partners.
  • Support survey analysis, qualitative data review, and end-of-year reporting.
  • Use data insights to inform program improvements and strategy.
  • Support administration of the YOLA Scholarship process, including marketing, application tracking, review coordination, and eligibility data management.
  • Assist with review processes, documentation of decisions, and preparation and distribution of notification materials.
  • Support College Prep and YOLA programming initiatives as needed.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and events as appropriate.
