About The Position

This is an ongoing internship located in Columbus, OH, with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, an internationally accredited agency focused on protecting life and property, promoting traffic safety, and providing professional public safety services. The internship is designed for college students pursuing degrees in Criminal Justice, Human Resources, or Psychology. The selected candidate will ideally be able to work throughout the school year and summer, averaging 20 hours per week or less, with flexibility during semesters to accommodate class schedules. The role involves assisting staff with assessment center activities, coordinating and scheduling courses, managing training campus and website content, updating interviews, maintaining databases, and proctoring examinations. A background check, including BCI and FBI fingerprint checks, may be required. The State of Ohio is committed to disability inclusion and provides reasonable accommodations.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university.
  • In good standing with the college/university.
  • Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0.
  • Enrolled in at least one course.
  • Pursuing a degree or finishing a degree.
  • Major/Field of Study should be in: Criminal Justice, Human Resources, or Psychology.

Responsibilities

  • Assist staff during assessment center (i.e. escort candidates to scenarios, handle questions).
  • Assist with coordinating and scheduling courses for remainder of 2026.
  • Add courses and monitor the training campus and Division Website.
  • Assist with creating or updating interviews, review and verify all completed packets.
  • Maintain database on status of all positions.
  • Assist in scheduling and proctoring examinations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
