About The Position

Grace Church School is seeking a College Counselor to serve as a leave replacement for the 2026-2027 academic year. This is an exempt position. The ideal candidate will start in early December 2026 to cover a leave from January 4th to May 31, 2027. The College Counselor will join a team of three and the position can be structured as part-time (20+ hours/week) or full-time. Priority will be given to applicants with significant experience working one-on-one with high school students in a college counseling setting. The role is primarily student-facing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • At least two years of experience in college counseling or college admissions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with all stakeholders (internal and external, groups and individuals).
  • Highly ethical, confident, and flexible with excellent judgment and a sense of humor.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Experience working successfully with high school students and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated commitment to DEIB (diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging) work.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support seniors and juniors through the college application process, ensuring they meet all requirements.
  • Provide individual assistance to seniors with final applications, deferrals, waitlists, financial aid offers and appeals, and enrollment decisions.
  • Offer individual guidance to juniors in researching colleges and developing balanced college lists.
  • Communicate student progress, needs, and questions effectively with the Director, Associate Director, and Assistant Director.
  • Communicate clearly with students and families as needed.
  • Guide students through the financial aid application and appeal process.
  • Maintain accurate student and application records for data tracking, reporting, and counseling continuity.
  • Participate in scheduled evening and/or weekend programming.
  • Co-teach weekly classes for juniors and seniors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
