5280 High School is a small project-based learning environment dedicated to supporting students affected by substance use in their recovery. Our mission is to empower students through authentic academic experiences and a culture of holistic wellness. 5280 High School prepares all students for success in college, their future career, and anything life throws at them. We accomplish this through a personalized education, fostering resilience and promoting a positive future. We believe in the transformative power of education and community support to help students overcome challenges related to substance use and thrive in their recovery journey. The College & Career Counselor works to ensure all students graduate with a clear and actionable plan for post-secondary success. As a 0.6 FTE (3 days per week) position, the College & Career Counselor will help to track and update students' graduation plans, support Teacher Leaders in facilitating counseling sessions for 9th and 10th grade students, and work directly with 11th and 12th grade students. Additional responsibilities include scheduling, managing credit recovery, supporting school-wide testing, and implementation of school-wide ICAP. 5280 staff members are passionate, creative, student-centered professionals who thrive in collaborative environments and embrace innovative thinking. Because 5280 serves students in recovery from substance use disorders, the College & Career Counselor must be committed to supporting students through a strengths-based, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented lens.
