The College & Career Coach is an advanced, student-facing position designed for experienced student advisors who drive deep community impact. Serving as the primary lead for school and campus partnerships, the Coach manages larger and more complex student caseloads. Though this role does not directly manage personnel, they do provide critical mentorship, guidance, and training support to our College Fellows. This role blends advanced direct service with internal leadership to maintain high-quality student programming across diverse educational ecosystems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3+ years experience in a client- or student-service position
  • 3+ years experience in financial aid navigation and college access/success matriculation steps
  • Geographic proximity to the region(s) being served and a reliable means of transportation to accommodate required regional travel
  • High level of professionalism including promptness, preparedness, and professional appearance
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Strong administrative, organization, and time-management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suite applications, Salesforce (or other CRM), and Canva or other presentation software
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm and initiative, including the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Willingness to learn and be self-reflective

  • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus
  • Lived experience aligned with the communities served by 10,000 Degrees (e.g., first-generation college graduates or low-income background) is highly valued
  • Alumni of 10,000 Degrees scholarships a plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage larger, more complex student caseloads than entry-level Fellows, navigating intricate financial aid and matriculation scenarios.
  • Provide direct, student-facing support including delivering comprehensive workshops, facilitating small-group sessions, and conducting individual coaching.
  • Deliver specialized curriculum, training, and guidance to students and families regarding financial aid, college choices, and career pathways.
  • Maintain a consistent on-campus presence for student outreach, engagement, and direct service delivery.
  • Act as the primary lead and communication contact for assigned school/campus partnerships, managing relationships with institutional personnel, local CBOs, and community partners.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support and advance education initiatives.
  • Serve as an engaging mentor and guide to College Fellows, assisting them with caseload management and the design, implementation, and delivery of curriculum programming.
  • Assist with the recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development of new Fellows.
  • Support Fellows in preparing for presentations at school, public, and community events.
  • Drive overall curriculum effectiveness assessments and maintain accurate data to generate program analysis reports.
  • Travel regularly within assigned region(s) to partner school campuses, 10,000 Degrees offices, and special event locations.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development activities, and supervisor check-ins.
  • Support and represent 10,000 Degrees at fundraising and appreciation events as needed.
  • Execute other duties as assigned to support the organization’s evolving needs.
