About The Position

The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Communications & Policy Division seeks two College Aide’s to serve as critical members of the Office of Community Outreach and Notification (OCON) team. OCON is responsible for coordinating outreach to 59 community boards, local elected officials, civic groups, merchant organizations, community institutions and the public. OCON provides communities with project information and notification of the City’s Street infrastructure projects. OCON is a participant in pre-construction meetings, providing input developed through fieldwork and makes recommendations to identify and lessen adverse community impacts. Working closely with the Deputy Director and Director of OCON, the selected candidate’s responsibilities include conducting site assessments of future projects in advance of construction phase; attending and participating in DDC meetings, Community Board meetings and other project-specific community meetings or events (occasional evenings may be required); Monitor consultant outreach. Developing and presenting infrastructure projects to groups or at public assemblies. Regularly connect with agency partners, non-profit partners, advocates and community stakeholders’ issues; develop, and implement solutions, hold collective accountability. Perform field office and design/construction site visits in assigned borough(s) to ensure outreach performance standards. Provide outreach oversight, administration, and consultant guidance to ensure policy and procedures result in high-quality services as well as provide ongoing training and technical assistance to consultants as needed. Additionally, the selected candidate may track critical projects and perform onboarding of consultants; address external tasks related to community liaisons and community outreach as needed. Prepare written and verbal reports; maintain records and perform other administrative details. Prepare reports and carry out special assignments and projects related to payment processes, data tracking and ongoing stakeholder communications.

Requirements

  • Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school
  • Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school
  • Currently authorized to work full-time in the United States (U.S.)
  • Must be a student enrolled in an accredited college or graduate school to be eligible

Nice To Haves

  • Specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study (for Assignment Level II and III)
