About The Position

Learner Education is seeking experienced College Admissions Coaches to guide high school students through the college application process, with a strong focus on personal statement and supplemental essay development. This role involves helping students discover their voice, reflect on their experiences, and craft authentic narratives. Coaches will also support students with broader admissions tasks such as research, planning, and deadline management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3+ years of professional tutoring, teaching, or admissions coaching experience
  • 1+ year of professional online tutoring or teaching experience
  • Direct experience supporting students with college essays and applications
  • Experience working with multiple students in a professional setting on their college applications (not just friends/family)
  • Strong understanding of the college admissions process in the US
  • Strong understanding of Common Application
  • Strong understanding of Supplemental essays
  • Strong understanding of Personal statement development
  • Ability to guide students without rewriting or over editing their work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Empathetic, engaging, and student centered approach
  • Availability during peak hours (evenings and weekends preferred)
  • Reliable internet and professional remote setup

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with 10+ college admissions students
  • Familiarity with UC and Coalition applications
  • Background in writing, journalism, or storytelling
  • Experience supporting students across a full admissions cycle (3–4 months)
  • Ability to tutor other academic or test prep subjects during the “off season” for college admissions

Responsibilities

  • Guide students through brainstorming, outlining, drafting, and revising college essays
  • Support Common Application, Coalition Application, UC, and supplemental essays based on student need
  • Help students develop authentic, personal narratives using “show, don’t tell” techniques
  • Provide feedback while preserving the student’s voice and ownership of their work
  • Support broader admissions strategy including building college lists, working through applications and writing activities lists.
  • Help students stay organized, motivated, and on track with deadlines
  • Meet with students virtually throughout the admissions cycle
  • Answer student and parent questions about the college admissions process
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement during a high stress process
