Positions are available for licensed, experienced operations and maintenance professionals, for inexperienced individuals looking for their first full-time job, or those in the water/sewer industry seeking to make a career change. Those filling these rewarding, full-time positions will be part of a team responsible for the operation and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and/or process control at water and wastewater facilities. As an Operations & Maintenance Technician 1, you will be inspecting and repairing sanitary sewer mains and manholes as well as operating a variety of heavy equipment such as manhole lining equipment, high pressure cleaning equipment, excavators, track loaders, skid loaders, and backhoes. You will also be welding, repairing water and sewer mains, assisting with responding to and resolving customer complaints and yards following installation operations. Lastly, you will assist in locating, and inspecting new lines, and other related duties.

Requirements

  • Positive attitude and work ethic
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • A mechanical/technical/vocational school background or experience is a plus
  • A valid Missouri motor vehicle operator's license
  • The ability to perform manual labor
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
  • Minimum of 1-year relevant experience or combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Knowledge of the repair and maintenance of wastewater collection systems
  • Knowledge of the operation and preventative maintenance of a variety of equipment
  • Skilled in the use of a variety of hand and power tools
  • Skilled in oral and written communication
  • NASSCO (National Association of Sewer Service Companies) certification, or the ability to obtain within the first 6 months
  • Class A CDL with Air Brakes and tanker endorsements, or the ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and assist others with after hour calls
  • Be able to work in inclement weather
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment
  • May stand, walk, or move 6 to 8 hours daily
  • May sit for 1 to 3 hours daily
  • May perform work in confined spaces
  • May require wearing a respirator while performing some tasks
  • May perform operations and maintenance functions requiring manual dexterity and precision movements, continuous or repetitive arm and hand movements, grasping movements, and occasional forceful exertion
  • Exert moderate, though not constant physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, and reaching, climbing stairs and ladders
  • May lift, carry, push/pull objects and materials: regularly up to 40 pounds
  • Perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth and visual cues or signals

Nice To Haves

  • A commercial driver’s license (CDL) with tanker endorsement is a plus
