About The Position

The Collections Specialist I is responsible for collecting delinquent payments and providing member service regarding collection issues. This role involves performing outbound calls on delinquent members, servicing inbound calls, and accurately documenting member interactions, payment arrangements, and action plans in the core collection platform. The specialist will also perform skip tracing for members that the Credit Union hasn’t been successful in reaching, reviewing loan documentation, leveraging skip trace platform(s), and references prior collection notes in an effort to reach the member. Other job-related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience processing transactions and delivering customer/member service in a banking or credit union environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with all levels of an organization.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including business writing ability.
• Excellent time management skills and accustomed to working with deadlines.
• High School Diploma or GED

Nice To Haves

• One or more years of experience in a banking or credit union collections environment.
