About The Position
Environmental Research Group, LLC (ERG) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual with Collections and/or Curatorial experience to support on-site collections projects in Richmond, Virginia. This role is ideal for early to mid-career professionals passionate about archaeology and/or history, historical collections, and preserving cultural heritage.
Requirements
- U.S. citizens
- Professional collection management experience
- Experience working with the physical management of historical artifact collections
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Nice To Haves
- Experience with maritime and military collections as a museum specialist/collection manager
- Experience working with historical metal objects
- Knowledge of collections inventory software
- First Aid/CPR certification
Responsibilities
- Input of artifact dimensions, descriptions, conditions, and quantities into DONHAMS or NHHC-provided Excel spreadsheet
- Identification photographs captured with professional equipment at 300 DPI or greater; delivered in JPEG format
- Documentation detailing provenance research, artifact identification, and accessions number verification
- Briefings on the number of objects inventoried/assessed and the work rate (artifacts assessed per person/per hour)
- Written compilation of the project update metrics (objects assessed and work rates)
- Comprehensive summary of all work accomplished
- Finalize inventory dataset; print and provide electronic copies delivered to the technical point of contact
