About The Position

Performance Studies is an hourly adjunct staff position. Permitted hours are tied to student contact. Performance Studies staff are expected to submit a log of which students they’ve met with to support hours logged. Performance Studies lessons are coordinated between 8am and 4:30 Monday through Friday. If lessons are needed outside of this time, approval is needed from the School Director(s). Performance Studies staff are not expected to do work outside of individual lessons. If additional hours for performances, auditions, or any other event outside of hourly lessons are being sought, approval from the school director(s) must be given in writing in advance. This position is required to report to the School Director(s) if expected to be absent or if needs to reschedule any students.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree.
  • Proficiency in instrument of specialty.
  • Ability to work well with students.
  • Ability to work with multiple schedules.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years prior teaching experience at the University level or in a private studio.
  • Master’s degree (minimum) in instrument of specialty, in pedagogy, performance or Music Ed.
  • Some professional performance experience.

Responsibilities

  • Arrange one on one meetings with students to practice and refine skills.
  • Help students work on areas that need improvement, encourage students to challenge themselves, foster a healthy and supportive learning environment, and identify when students need additional support.
  • Communicate any placement concerns to full-time Music faculty and the School Director(s).
  • Submit a log of which students they have met with to support their hours when they are submitted.
  • Submit hours by end of day on Friday of that week.
