About The Position

Phillips Academy seeks a Collaborative Pianist to begin in September of 2026 this is .5 FTE position. Strong candidates will be experienced teaching and collaborative musicians who enjoy supporting young musicians with a wide range of skill levels. The Collaborative Pianist will accompany the Phillips Academy Chorus for twice-weekly rehearsals, coordinate and accompany multiple student recitals throughout the year, and accompany 10-15 senior recitals during Spring Term. They will also support students as they prepare recordings and portfolios for college applications, teach private lessons and may coach small chamber groups. They can expect additional duties around campus, such as reviewing admissions submissions. The candidate will have the opportunity to join a vibrant and active Music Department, including working closely with the Director of Music Technology in Falls Music Center’s state-of-the-art recording studio, and the Choral Director in supporting the well-established 70-member Chorus. Requirements

  • excellent sight-reading skills
  • advanced keyboard skills
  • comfort working with singers and choirs
  • evening and weekend hours are required

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate degree plus a minimum of three years teaching experience preferred
