About The Position

Responsible for the direct implementation of cognitive behavioral programming for the clients in the Corrections program. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science or related field required.
  • Must be able to routinely lift and carry boxes weighing 50 pounds or more.
  • Must be able to use stairs, when necessary, for building evacuations, drills or during elevator maintenance.
  • Speaks positively about the programs, staff and The Salvation Army.
  • Verbalizes pro-social thinking using respectful language, tone of voice and body language.
  • Displays pro-social behavior.
  • Maintains appropriate boundaries with clients and employees.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Cognitive Theory and Social Learning Theory preferred.
  • Work experience in the Chemical Dependency field and/or licensure helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts cognitive skills programming as scheduled.
  • Evaluates clients overall progress and goal achievement and communicates the status to clients regularly as required by the program.
  • Selects and implements the cognitive behavioral intervention strategies which best fit the characteristics of individual clients and program.
  • Provides clients with education about the cognitive errors that support a criminal lifestyle.
  • Educates and assists clients in utilizing cognitive behavioral techniques to counter act the use of destructive thinking patterns in accordance with cognitive behavioral strategies.
  • Prepares and records individual progress notes and outside correspondence according to specifications.
  • Coordinates services with case managers, other staff and other agencies in the community and maintains accurate documentation of same.
  • Educates/trains current and new employees within the department about pertinent cognitive skills information.
  • Develop recovery and relapse prevention activities for clients.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to staff in regards to addictions and treatment.
  • Coordinate client assessments, appropriate discharge plans and linkage to community support systems.
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
