About The Position

This role involves working with individuals who have experienced a traumatic brain injury (TBI). As a Cognitive Therapist, the focus is on developing and implementing methods to enhance cognitive functioning. This includes guided practice on tasks targeting specific cognitive functions, teaching new skills for information intake, and utilizing memory aids and assistive devices. As a Behavioral Therapist, the focus is on helping individuals make desired changes to improve their quality of life within their community. Behavior Therapy emphasizes the current environment, aiming to make positive changes while improving self-control through expanding skills, abilities, and independence.

Requirements

  • High School or GED required.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be organized, possess problem-solving skills, and be able to multi-task.
  • Must have advanced analytical skills.
  • High degree of sensitivity toward all people.
  • Ability to effectively plan, coordinate, and assist with intake process and systems.
  • Attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • One year or more of related experience preferred.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Learning and implementing all aspects of Minds Matter LLC philosophical principles.
  • Assisting individuals to identify their needs and develop appropriate compensatory strategies for their brain injury.
  • Developing techniques with the consumer to enhance problem-solving, memory, planning, organizational, and processing skills.
  • Integrating employment, educational, and independent living goals into therapy.
  • Working closely with the consumer and team members to determine goal attainment.
  • Providing services only as designated on each individual consumer’s authorized plan of care.
  • Educating families and caregivers about the consequences of brain injury and communicating about goals and progress.
  • Documenting sessions with the consumer on the day of service, ensuring documentation is goal-driven, concise, factual, and clear.
  • Attending all weekly conference calls and webinars with licensed supervisors.
  • Establishing and maintaining a professional rapport with consumers, co-workers, referral agents, and community agency representatives.
  • Promoting public relations for the agency and community program.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Providing care and maintenance for Minds Matter LLC issued iPad.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of protected health information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Possibly serving as a consumer’s team lead, which includes updating goal plans and team meeting history forms during team meetings with progress, strategy effectiveness, concerns, task assignments, or goal changes.
