About The Position

As a Barista at Hy-Vee, you will provide friendly customer service while preparing beverages, keeping the coffee shop stocked and clean, and helping customers find what they need. The role suits someone who enjoys connecting with people, learning on the job, and working in a fast-paced team environment. You will take orders at the counter and over the phone, prepare and replenish coffee shop products, monitor product freshness and appearance, and maintain a clean and safe work area. You may also receive and put away products, review invoices, operate the department register, and assist with other store areas or special projects. Training and support are provided.

Requirements

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills, including simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Ability to communicate clearly and helpfully with customers and teammates.
Ability to stay organized and keep pace in a busy coffee shop environment.
Less than a high school diploma or equivalent is accepted.

Nice To Haves

Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide helpful service, including learning customers’ names and making visits positive.
Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone, help customers find products, and answer questions.
Prepare and replenish coffee shop products as needed.
Monitor product freshness and appearance and follow or develop a production list to anticipate daily needs.
Handle food safely and maintain a clean, neat work area that meets department standards.
Check in products, put them away, and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register and process payments where applicable.
Remove trash promptly and keep the department tidy.
Work with teammates to provide a smooth, positive customer experience.
Follow Hy-Vee’s dress code, hygiene standards, and company policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
