About The Position

The Coffee Shop barista provides outstanding customer experiences through serving specialty coffee and food while building and fostering customer relationships. Performing duties in an effective and efficient manner, the barista maintains the highest standards of quality and excellence in all functions. A proactive self-starter, this individual takes full ownership of all Coffee Shop duties while promoting and supporting the mission of Insight for Living (IFL).

Requirements

One or more years prior barista experience desired
Strong customer service orientation and demeanor
Self-starter, driven to excel in all tasks
Highly relational and works well with people at all levels
Effectively balances building relationships with completing tasks
Meticulous and thorough in completing all responsibilities
Completes tasks within specified timelines
Strong work ethic with ability to take direction
Communicates clearly, succinctly, and effectively with others
Proactive in identifying and fulfilling Coffee Shop-related needs
Exceptional observation skills regarding cleanliness needs
Growth mind-set and a positive attitude
Adheres to a set task schedule, yet able to adjust when needed
Capable of standing for prolonged periods of time
Ability to efficiently use point-of-sale systems and databases

Responsibilities

Prepares and delivers drinks to order and according to specialty coffee standards
Encourages a healthy, productive, and customer-oriented environment
Upholds Coffee Shop best practices related to customer experiences, daily operations, health and safety, inventory, and merchandising
Maintains effective documentation of all relevant items related to daily operations, inventory, expiration dates, waste, and maintenance/repair
Receives and checks inventory upon delivery
Stocks all products each day and informs lead barista and/or manager regarding inventory needs
Welcomes and acknowledges all customers cheerfully
Regulates and expresses emotions appropriately (Ephesians 4:26)
Interacts with customers in a healthy, positive manner (Romans 12:18)
Interacts intentionally with customers in friendly, engaging, and professional ways
Builds rapport quickly and easily through meaningful connections and showing interest
Carefully listens for accurate understanding of others’ needs (James 1:19)
Demonstrates commitment and willingness to serve customers and staff by cleaning (John 13:14–15)
Follows all cleaning schedules and checklists
Cleans all items thoroughly and meticulously
Uses appropriate cleaning tools and materials
Always upholds highest standards of cleanliness
Communicates professionally
Adheres to IFL and Coffee Shop policies and procedures
Maintains consistent and reliable attendance
Manages stress and attitude in a professional manner

Understands barista techniques effectively to ensure delivery of superior-tasting coffee and drinks delivered in a timely fashion
Uses job-related technology effectively (point-of-sale, etc.)
Ensures completion of tasks, processes, and procedures without error and within required timeframes
