Coffee Shop Barista
About The Position

As a Barista at Hy-Vee, you'll be the friendly face our customers look forward to seeing every morning. In this role, you'll craft beverages, keep the coffee shop stocked and spotless, and make sure every customer walks away with exactly what they came in for, and a smile to go with it. Requirements
- Follow written and verbal instructions with confidence
- Use basic math skills for simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording
- Communicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful way
- Stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy coffee shop environment
- Less than a high school diploma or equivalent accepted
- Up to six months of similar or related work experience preferred
- Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas
- Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties

- Prior experience is not required; training and support will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly, learning their names, and going the extra mile to make every visit a positive one
- Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone, and assist with finding products and answering questions
- Prepare and replenish coffee shop products as needed throughout your shift
- Monitor product freshness and appearance and follow or develop a production list to stay ahead of daily needs
- Handle food safely and keep the work area clean, neat, and up to department standards at all times
- Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed
- Run the department register and process payments where applicable
- Remove trash promptly and maintain a tidy department
- Work alongside your teammates to ensure a smooth, positive experience for every customer
- Maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies
- Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed
