About The Position

Aspire Rural Health System is hiring a Coding Specialist in the Health Information Management department in Cass City, Michigan. The role assigns diagnostic, quality, and procedure codes accurately and efficiently to patient encounters, along with associated charges and modifiers. The Coding Specialist reviews records for documentation supporting coding assignments and charges, and communicates with or queries healthcare providers and ancillary departments as needed to maintain accurate, quality coding. The position is full-time, day shift, with full benefits.

Requirements

• Complete examination requirements for at least one listed credential: Association for Rural & Community Health Professional Coding; Critical Access Hospital Coding and Billing Specialist; AHIMA Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS); NHA Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS); or AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC).
• New coders hired for the position must become certified within one year from the date of hire.
• Ability to cope with typical stresses of a healthcare environment, volume benchmarks, and deadlines.

Nice To Haves

• Preferred credentials from AHIMA or AAPC.
• CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding experience.
• Working knowledge of computer applications, preferably EPIC, coding software, and 3M (Solventum).
