About The Position
Baptist Health is hiring a full-time Coding Specialist, Physician Coding to join its Physician Billing Office team. This is a remote day-shift opportunity for candidates working from one of the approved states: AL, FL, GA, ID, IN, KY, LA, MS, NC, OH, OK, OR, SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, WV, or WY. The role supports accurate and compliant coding for physician services across multiple specialties and places of service. The specialist reviews clinical documentation and applies appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes in accordance with established coding guidelines and state and federal regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Physician coding experience.
- High school diploma.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification or equivalent.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with E/M coding, outpatient procedures, and minor office procedures.
- Specialty-specific coding experience.
- Specialty-specific coding certification.
Responsibilities
- Review clinical documentation and accurately assign ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT-4 procedure codes.
- Apply evaluation and management (E/M) codes across applicable places of service.
- Code minor office procedures, specialty-specific testing and procedures, and minor surgeries.
- Follow established coding guidelines and applicable state and federal regulatory requirements.
- Ensure coding accuracy and compliance to support appropriate physician billing and reimbursement.
- Identify coding discrepancies and documentation issues in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines, regulatory requirements, and specialty-specific coding practices.
