About The Position

Lead a team of specialty coders responsible for identifying ICD-10 codes in the patient’s record with appropriate documentation to ensure accurate coding is reflected on the claim. In this role the manager will be focused primarily on the identification and capture of medical risk adjustment ICD-10 codes (HCC/RAF). Supports building outstanding processes and collaborating with partners across several departments, such as Informatics, Clinical, Operations Legal, and Compliance. You will provide interdepartmental leadership on appropriate HCC/RAF ICD-10 codes that enhance the complexity of the patient’s comorbidities in conjunction with a cancer diagnosis.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of directly related experience, including 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Associate’s degree or higher, regarding coding trends and knowledge of ICD10 and CPT coding.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to multi-task and work in stressful situations with little supervision.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, consistently deliver a high degree of quality while managing multiple demands.
  • Ability to identify issues and provide creative solutions.
  • Certification required CCS, CPC and/or CCS-P (CRC preferred).
  • Critical thinking skills including solid problem solving, analysis, decision-making, planning, time management and organizational skills.
  • Detailed oriented with the ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, diplomacy, tact, conflict management, delegation skills, and diversity awareness.
  • Ability to work effectively with sensitive and confidential material and sometimes emotionally charged matters.
  • Good command of the English language.
  • Effective communication skills (oral, written, presentation), is an active listener, and effectively provides balanced feedback.
  • Ability to present effectively to physicians and other departmental leaders regarding medical risk adjustment initiatives and programs.
  • Strong customer focus.

  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands from a variety of stakeholders and sites.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook required.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively hire, coach and support staff development, as applicable, as well as manage resources, performance and employee relations, and supervise within established policies, procedures and legislation.
