About The Position

The US Oncology Network is looking for a Coding Analyst to join their team at Texas Oncology. This is a full-time hybrid position supporting the Research Billing Department. The role can be filled at a level 1, 2, or Sr based on candidate experience. Texas Oncology is a leading community oncology provider focused on delivering high-quality, evidence-based care. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of AAPC Certified Professional Coder Exam required.
  • Minimum three years medical coding experience required.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft (Office Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Excel) required.
  • Four-year degree in a related field OR equivalent experience desired (for Sr level).
  • Associate's Degree + Four (4) years of related work experience (for Sr level).
  • Eight (8) years of related work experience (for Sr level).
  • Five years experience in coding, medical records and reimbursement (for Sr level).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior oncology experience preferred.
  • Prior medical billing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs billing and coding activities under limited supervision.
  • Assigns appropriate billing codes to patient accounts and ensures accurate and completeness of claims.
  • Reviews requests for coding changes (CPT/HCPCS, diagnosis, modifiers, place of service, authorizations, UOM, MUE, NDC) based on payer denials to ensure accurate coding and billing.
  • Abstracts relevant clinical information from the medical record and provider documentation to assign ICD‑10 and CPT/HCPCS codes in accordance with coding and reimbursement guidelines.
  • Reviews and corrects coding errors post–claim processing/denial, ensuring accurate refiling of corrected claims to payers.
  • Uses LCD/NCD policies to ensure accurate coding for the CMS region.
  • Utilizes coding tools such as Optum Encoder and CMS guidelines.
  • Codes with an accuracy of 95% or higher based on QA internal reviews.
