About The Position

The Codes & Standards Manager represents the corporate interests of Viega LLC at code and standard development proceedings and within trade organizations. This position maintains a detailed understanding of all applicable model codes, standards, and industry developments relevant to Viega products and markets. The Specialist is responsible for proposing and evaluating modifications to codes and standards and communicating their organizational impact. This role serves as a subject matter expert and advisor to internal stakeholders on code compliance, regional issues, and market research initiatives.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of plumbing and heating techniques and technologies.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and proficiency in planning, organizing, and reporting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and political acumen to operate effectively in committee and trade organization environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and respond effectively to urgent situations.
  • Proficiency in computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline is required.
  • A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of related professional experience in codes, standards, or product compliance is required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and ten (10) or more years of directly applicable work experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, drafts, and submits proposed code changes to relevant agencies for review and approval.
  • Represents Viega LLC at national code development meetings, hearings, and related industry functions.
  • Monitors national and international code activities and analyzes their potential impact on company products and strategy.
  • Informs key internal stakeholders of industry trends, changes, and their potential ramifications.
  • Actively participates on assigned standards development committees to influence the creation of new and revision of existing standards.
  • Maintains comprehensive industry knowledge to identify and recommend membership on new or strategic committees.
  • Upholds Viega’s industry leadership position through active and professional committee involvement.
  • Serves as an internal consultant to various departments, including Sales, Product Management, and the Technical Management Group, on matters of code compliance.
  • Provides technical support and expertise for business case development and market research projects.
  • Assists sales and marketing teams at expositions and other events by providing technical instruction on product applications and installations.
  • Maintains positive and effective professional relationships with internal customers, stakeholders, certification agencies, and industry peers.
  • Contributes to project planning by identifying code and standard requirements, defining resource needs, and tracking progress against established timelines and deliverables.
  • Approves and processes invoices and expenses within budgetary limits and establishes corporate policy.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.
  • Will be required to attend occasional, local off-site meetings and as needed, operate a motor vehicle for business purposes. Reasonable accommodation will be considered.
