About The Position
This is a fully remote Coder position for Outpatient Professional Services at Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH). The role involves reviewing provider documentation and assigning appropriate ICD-10-CM codes and CPT/HCPCS codes based on official coding guidelines. The coder will also research and take action on any coding/claim edits. The specific coding focus will depend on the open position and the employee's impending certification.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required.
- Completion of SIH Coding Management approved CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10 coding education program within the previous 12 months (if no certification).
- Passage of certification exam within 24 months of hire is required (if no certification).
Nice To Haves
- Associate or Bachelor Degree in Health Information or a Healthcare related discipline.
- CCS, CCS-P, CCA, or CPC certification.
Responsibilities
- Reviews provider documentation and revises and/or assigns ICD-10-CM codes and CPT/HCPCS codes as appropriate, based on official coding guidelines.
- Researches and takes appropriate action on any coding/claim edits.
- Coding focus is contingent on open position and impending certification by the employee.
